What do women want? In 1977, the U.S. federal government funded for the first and only time a National Women’s Conference to create a collective agenda on women’s issues. Inspired by the 1975 United Nations conference on women in Mexico City, the NWC was held in Houston, Texas. 20,000 women and men attended from 50 states and 6 territories. This talk explores how Asian American women, including those from Minnesota, contributed to the National Women’s Conference and how their proposed issues resonate with today’s society.
